Theory vs Reality

Soul Growth Path:
"I signed up for a few life lessons."

Universe:
"Excellent. Here's family drama, a difficult boss, financial uncertainty, and a broken toaster."

Soul:
"Wait... ALL AT ONCE?"

Universe:
"Accelerated learning program."

 

Spiritual Path:
"I seek peace, wisdom, and enlightenment."

Universe:
"Wonderful. Sit quietly and meditate."

Soul Growth Path:
"No time. I'm currently learning patience in a grocery store line behind someone paying with pennies."

 

Spiritual Path teaches you how to stay centered.

Soul Growth Path gives you the reasons you need those skills.

One studies the lesson.

The other takes the exam.

😄 In simple terms: spiritual growth is learning the wisdom; soul growth is living through the experiences that force that wisdom to become real.

 

I asked for spiritual growth.

The Universe gave me meditation.

I asked for soul growth.

The Universe gave me relatives.

Apparently, there are different levels of training.

Spiritual Path:
"Everything happens for a reason."

Soul Path:
"Really? Then please explain this reason in writing."

The Universe has left the chat.

Spiritual growth is learning that everyone is your teacher.

Soul growth is discovering who the lesson is when they cut you off in traffic.

Spiritual growth says:
"Live in the present moment."

Soul growth says:
"Sure but first let's replay that embarrassing thing from 17 years ago."

 

I thought enlightenment would involve glowing light and profound wisdom.

So far, soul growth mostly involves boundaries, uncomfortable conversations, and saying "no."

 

Spiritual growth:
"I am connected to all beings."

Soul growth:
"Even that one?"

Universe:
"Especially that one."

 

The spiritual path is climbing the mountain seeking wisdom.

The soul growth path is tripping over every rock on the way up and learning from each one.

 

Me:
"I'd like gentle soul growth."

Universe:
"Best I can do is character development."

Me:
"No thank you."

Universe:
"Too late." 😄
