How I Taught Aura Cleansing with a Selenite Stick

Over the years, one of the simplest techniques I taught in my crystal classes involved using a smooth selenite stick to gently "brush" the aura.

Think of it as brushing energetic dust off your coat after a long day. Whether you view the aura as an energetic field or simply as a mindful visualization, the slow, intentional movements can become a calming ritual.

Step 1: Start at the Head

Hold the selenite stick horizontally near the top of your head.

Slowly sweep it across the front of your body, moving downward a little at a time, almost as if you're gently brushing the space surrounding you.

Step 2: Continue Down the Body

Keep making slow, horizontal sweeps as you work your way toward your feet.

When you reach your knees, there's no need to bend all the way to the floor.

Instead, use a gentle windshield-wiper motion to sweep the area from your knees down to the ground.

Step 3: Repeat on All Four Sides

Repeat the same process on each side of the body:

  • Front
  • Back
  • Left side
  • Right side

Move slowly and deliberately. There's no rush.

People naturally focus on what they can see—the front of the body—but I always encouraged students not to forget the back. If you're "brushing" your aura, give equal attention to all four sides.

Some people like to imagine they're brushing away anything they no longer wish to carry. Others simply enjoy taking a few quiet moments to reset before meditation, after a stressful day, or whenever life feels especially noisy.
